Prairie Sky Resource Centre

A+ R A-

Prairie Sky will create 28 direct jobs for the surrounding region, along with dozens
of indirect jobs.

These jobs will be sourced locally from the region.

As a positive spin-off, people working at our facility and those using it will travel regularly from the site and purchase gas, food, repairs and other goods and services. This will boost the local economy in Foothills and create dozens of additional jobs.

We will also ensure that Prairie Sky purchases the supplies, goods and services it needs locally, whenever possible.

Prairie Sky will add significantly to the property tax base of the M.D. of Foothills. Every year, millions of dollars will be injected into the economy of the Foothills, through direct spending, tax revenues, royalties and regional support.

Once established, Prairie Sky will be a long-term neighbour, providing steady economic benefit to the region and counter-balancing more cyclic sectors like agriculture and petroleum.

For more information on our commitment to adding to the local economy, please see the project overview from our application to the MD here: Appendix 1: Project Brief

A February 2012 Economic Impact Assessment by independent consulting firm Sustainable Path Inc. estimates the total benefits of the Prairie Sky Resource Centre to the region at more than $176 million over the next 26 years. More than 30 full time jobs will be created, dozens of indirect jobs, and more than $6.0 million in annual spending.
